The objective of this thesis was to improve and deepen professional skills in the work of an early childhood education teacher along with increasing the use of positive pedagogy in the early childhood education environment. This objective was set by the city of Hyvinkää which is also the commissioner of this thesis. This thesis was made as a diary-based implementation. In this method reporting was written for a ten-week period based on the theme or goal that had been set for each week. The weekly analysis reflected what observations and developments took place during the week and was analyzed through theoretical knowledge. The thesis developed the author’s own professional identity and methodological competence in positive pedagogy. The entrenching of positive pedagogy in the work community and the unit’s operating culture, which was evident in the orderer’s need, developed. The basis for this was created through continuous collegial reflection. Through the thesis, the author was able to develop author’s own professional skills as an expert in positive pedagogy and generally in the work of an early childhood education teacher. The author’s understanding of the concept and methodological nature of positive pedagogy expanded and deepened considerably alongside daily analysis and concrete work. The orderer had a genuine need to increase and inculcate positive pedagogy in the work community, which was felt to have been rewarded during the thesis process. Development targets and future follow-up work were reflected during the thesis. The assignment of the thesis to the work community was a continuation of the unit’s previous positive pedagogy development work. The orderer received many ideas, thanks to this thesis and the previous development work by the author, for increasing positive pedagogy in the work community and in the working methods of educators. The early childhood education unit will continue to consider different development targets, especially from the perspective of positive pedagogy, based on the feedback that was given for this thesis....
